What strategies would you recommend to improve mutual understanding and minimize conflict among these troops?

You are a special assistant to the commander-in-chief of a peacekeeping mission to a war-torn part of the world. The unit consists of a few thousand peacekeeping troops from the United States, France, and four other countries. The troops will work together for approximately one year. What strategies would you recommend to improve mutual understanding and minimize conflict among these troops?

Quite simple really, have a mission everyone agrees upon doing, and also that everyone agrees with the same way of doing it. Who ever is the mission commander must follow the guidelines set forth before the mission. Oh and pretty much nothing can go too wrong. Its not totally impossible, but pretty darn close.
