Why is Continuing Professional Development important for an engineer?

Through theory learning and hands-on practical training one is provided a general key towards development in collecting other keys, either focusing upon specialisms in becoming an expert in a particular field or a focuser to many fields in gaining perhaps a broader range of knowledge and skills while not specialising in any one field. Development is about an awareness as to how “things” work, their purpose and the principles involved to why they be as they are as a result of others constructive logical minds. To have scope, logic and understanding as to much of everything one is afforded a greater knowledge from which to select appropriate paths towards providing solutions OR advancing upon whats gone before in giving newer technology to subsequently build upon. Its all about WANTING to know how things work and the more the opportunities to learn from others or in what is SEEN naturally the more one can develop too in overcoming what others may percieve as being a major obsticle.
