What program should I use to edit movies to use in my classroom?

I am looking to cut out certain scenes/language in various movies to use along with lessons in my classroom. Are there any good, LEGAL, programs I can use?

windows movie maker is pretty good if you have windows… it should come already installed just check your all programs list.
