What motivates you the most in a classroom?
Students (or former-students): most of us don’t like school, but what helps you learn the best in a classroom?
Teachers: what seems to motivate your students the best?
Thank you!
Success. If you are able to help them succeed at something, they tend to work better afterward.

What motivates my students is realizing that they are capable of more than they thought. I do a project wth my classes every year that involves calculating the exact spot where a paintball will land, then trying to hit a target by shooting a paintball gun at a certain angle. It never fails – they ALWAYS go outside moaning that it’s a waste of time and it won’t work, but come in all excited because at least half of them hit the target. Any kind of boost to their confidence works, if only for a couple of weeks, so it helps to do these projects frequently.
