thanks! I’m also … thanks! I’m also teaching Koreans and I really need an advice on how to teach them. Sometimes they enjoy the lesson that I teach them so they all listen but when they are not in the mood, as what you said, they know how to respect but only for 5 minutes.c:
Super video, thanks … Super video, thanks for this.
A little feedback?
You may want to reshoot your clip one more time with less “Koreans….something, something….insane…”…
Thank you. I try … Thank you. I try to entertain as much as I inform. who wants to watch a completely boring video?
Experience is far more important than having a degree. If you have experience dealing with the worst behaved children, I’m sure your ready for just about anything.
Good sense of … Good sense of humour. I start ESL teaching in China for the first time in March 2010. I’ve got no degree or certificate, but I have assistant teaching experience of Australian children. I’ve seen some of the worst behaved children and the best. If I’m not ready now, when will I be? You’re quite funny.
the one chance thing is good, lets them know you are serious, and it sets a no-nonsense tone for the rest of the class.
personally, I don’t like sending kids outside the class. i found that often, a discipline problem was the result of a student being lost, and not understanding something. so i would send kids to stand at the back of the classroom, away from their friends, so they could still listen and participate, only they were away from all distractions.
Great tips dude ! … Great tips dude ! I’m in Bangkok teaching K – P / 6. Same as Korean kids I think. Each kid is a tornado of energy. But 95% are pretty well good , its a select few that cause most of the problems. I give them one chance to fly right or its adios … go stand outside ! Your thoughts ?
You Rock!!!! Thank … You Rock!!!! Thank you so so so much! I am just about to move to Korea on my first EFL posting to teach middle school children at a private school. So you’re stuff is spot-on for me. Brilliant, keep up the good work!
don’t worry, I was … don’t worry, I was the same for the first month. absolutely terrified to step in front of a class. you would be surprized by how quickly you learn how to handle things. by the end of the 1st day, the fear or public speaking goes away (until they put you in a lecture hall in front of 250 people, then it comes right back)
Haha. Awesome. Even … Haha. Awesome. Even though I won’t be teaching in Korea for about …. 3 more years (depressed T.T) … Your tips are helping me build up some ideas. Actually I have NO IDEA about teaching .. honestly, I need to take a public speaking class 1st or I’m going to be the total push-over. ^^;;
You should also … You should also look into Harry Wong’s series on classroom management! You are right, busy minds don’t have time to get into trouble… and using meaningful rewards to encourage good behavior is essential to classroom management.
dude, i really … dude, i really appreciate the advice. i just moved to korea, and start teaching monday and how you describe the school and teachers at teh beginning is DEAD ON!
Hearing this, kinda … Hearing this, kinda reminds me of when we were in grade school, and looking back, the teachers used similar techniques to control the students behavior in the classroom.
