Masters in Educational Technology- DeVry University: Is it worth my time?
So I am looking at the degree program below. While I know it is not a teaching license (which I will be working on soon). I was wondering if this program will benefit me in the state of North Carolina. Anyone completed this program? Any thoughts or suggestions would be wonderful!

I am just not sure if this will help me in the end. I have a BA in History and am looking at teaching, but I am also looking at teaching Technology classes as well, so I am unsure if this is something that would be useful in the end…
How do school systems look at degrees from Universities such as DeVry?
Check out the school. See if there accredited, look at other schools with the same program. I’m in NC and I go to school on line and I’m not sure if my schoo offers that degree, but you should take a look. www.aiuoline.com
why is educational technology is more appropriate to use in elementary & secondary settings?
It is so for the student to build up their fundamental knowledge of years to come because of the technology improvement every month and year.

what are the importance of educational technology to the teaching-learning process?
Basically…you have to have a working knowledge of technology, in general, to better reach your students. You have to be able to know how and why to use different pieces of technology with your students–should you use a Powerpoint, website, I-tunes, or other piece of technology to really help your students understand the subject matter you teach? I heard somewhere that most of the jobs that students today will have in the future HAVE NOT BEEN CREATED YET (technology-based)!! So students need to have contact with technology in the classroom to be prepared for the future. Socio-economically, it’s a huge issue, too. Normally, the lower socio-economic classes do not have as much contact with technology, which automatically puts them at a disadvantage in the job world.

The main importance is that the students we teach today will be using these things in their everyday working lives and we are preparing them for the future. Incorporating ICT technology should be a natural extension to the classroom and not some set up artificial way of teaching using computers. Using all the technologies with ease means we can get trough more, motivate the students and utilise the experts (as in the students who have been using it since before they could walk and talk) in the classroom. educational technology is providing students with the means to learn and extend their knowledge and skills, it may result in a paper pen essay or a powerpoint presentation. It my be an oral presentation using powerpoint presentation and digital camera pictures creating a short film with Moviemaker. Technology is part of it not the be all and end all.
