How do I get started in information technology?

I’m in grade 12 and I want to know what education I need to get into an IT career.

I live in Toronto, Canada and there are only 2 Universities (outside the city) that offer a Bachelor of Information Technology.

There are three colleges in my area that offer diplomas for Systems Technology, Systems Technician, Information Systems Business Analyst, and Networking.

Is it better to get a diploma from college or a degree to get started in information technology?
Is there any other way of starting an IT career?

get certifications first… then worry about getting a degree… seriously a well certified guy is almost always better and more valuable then a guy with a diploma… what part of IT do you want to get into? it really is a broad field.
start by studying for a+ then decide if you want to do windows admin network admin DBA (oracle sql etc) or development or whatever… there are certs for all of these paths… just go down the path and you will do ok…

How do I obtain a teaching license to teach Spanish in Indiana?

My native language is Spanish and I have a bachelor’s degree. I would like to teach Spanish in elementary or middle school, but I don’t have a teaching license. How do I get one?

Check Indiana’s official state government web site and look for "licensing". My guess is you’d need to have a Bachelor’s degree to teach in a public school, although private schools may not require that.

What are some strategies the authors uses to convey his message?

Also, has anyone read "The American Wanderer, and all his stripes" ?
What are some strategies the author uses to convey his message in that article?

Writing usually helps, along with pictures or graphs. :)

Professional development conference proposal?

I am a Reading and English teacher at a middle school. My team of teachers and I would like to attend a conference on middle school essentials this spring which includes many valuable topics such as content area literacy, differentiation, and the middle school philosophy. As the English teacher, I have been in charge of writing the proposal for attending the conference. The problem is that I am a first year teacher and have never written a proposal to attend a conference geared towards professional development. How should I open this paper? What other tips can you give me?

Thank you.
Our whole team wants to go. How can I mention why it is so important that all of us are permitted to attend the conference?

Just a couple of brainstorming ideas: How to prepare the middle school student to become a critical, independent thinker in high school; How can middle school teachers best support and encourage the transition from elementary school to high school; How to prepare the middle school student to meet the expectations of high school students…
I hope this helps some! Good luck!!

Start learning more about finances here:

And at 16 you don’t need a car. Get that out of your mind. That will be a financial drain on you so early in life.
