What are some tactics and strategies used by the United States to hunt down terrorist in Afghanistan?

Im looking for specific strategies such as house to house searches or spy satellites. Not sure if thats is something the US uses its just an example. the more information the better. Also if you know of any good websites that contain such information that would be very helpful.

Spy satellites and unmanned aerial vehicles can only give you so much intel. That’s why human intelligence is still the top priority. Human intelligence gave us Saddam, Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, and plenty others (including the dude that looked like Ron Jeremy–can’t remember his name tho).

The most effective way of finding the terrorists is to rely on the people to tell you what’s going on. The way the US is doing that is by rebuilding the country, ensuring safe passage for civilians through the country, and giving them equipment and training for jobs to support their families.

What does professional development mean to English Language Teachers working in the United Arab Emirates?

I’m looking for views of ELT/EFL/ESL teachers on whatthey think about professional development and some of the ways that they engage in institutional and external professioanl development.

One great source of professional development over here in Asia is through the regular workshops the big named ESL text book publishers put on for our ESL teachers.

We often get free invites for our teachers to join one or two-day workshops held at nice hotels, with light refreshments, and if we’re really lucky, they throw in lunch as well. Lots of freebies, i.e. posters, pens, calenders and text books. The main two ESL publishers often use their popular text book authors to give presentations.

We also have to endure the local government education office’s efforts to put together some sort of seminar/workshop type event about once a year. Boring!

If you are looking to organize local ESL professional development, I would strongly advise you to get in touch with your main supplier of English language text books. They will have a rep. in your area for sure.

Hope this helps.

What is the literacy term for answering your own question?

In writing a literacy narrative, you can a pose a question to the readers then answer for effect. I can’t seem to find the name of this term, nor any websites with it.
Rhetorical is when you ask a question with no answer, this word is when you ask a question then answer it. It’s a more advance college word.
The answer is:

Hypophora

rhe·tor·i·cal

1 a: of, relating to, or concerned with rhetoric b: employed for rhetorical effect; especially :
asked merely for effect with no answer expected
<a rhetorical question>
2 a: given to rhetoric : grandiloquent b: verbal
— rhe·tor·i·cal·ly \-i-k(ə-)lē\ adverb

Should sex education be a manditory class in high schools throughout the United Sates?

Do you think sex education should be a manditory class in High schools across America? Why or Why not? Could this possibly prevent accidental pregnancy and help the economy?

As a teenager in high school myself, i do indeed believe that sexual education should be a mandatory course in health or physical education classes. As someone who does not believe in sex before marriage, i know that others do, and many of my friends are not virgins, and i know some girls in my school are either pregnant, or have had an abortion. If they knew better and were educated more clearly, it could help prevent this. We were not offered sex-ed up until this year and I do know some girls who have stopped being sexual active with their boyfriends because now they know the cold hard facts. So all in all, i do think that sexual education should be in all school across america.

How would you organize the classroom for autistic kids? How it (the classroom) should look like?

How would you organize the classroom for autistic kids? How it (the classroom) should look like?

I guess the think that distresses me about this question is that there appears to be the assumption that all autistic students are the same or have the same needs. That is a misnomer. That being said, I wouldn’t organize any classroom for autistic kids. I would look at the student population for that classroom (regardless of identification or diagnosis) and organize the classroom for that group of kids.

Every student is more successful if (1) the classroom is physically organized, cleaned, and decluttered, (2) there is a routine and schedule that is followed, (3) the teacher is well prepared with more than enough activities for the time allotted, (4) the rules and procedures are fair and fully communicated, (5) the personnel within the classroom really care about the students.

What technology shows hidden bodily fluids in a room?

On the "Monk" episode, "Mr. Monk Takes a Vacation," a crime scene detective uses some kind of machine that makes all sort of bodily fluids show up around the hotel room, which of course completely freaks Mr. Monk out.

What kind of technology is this and how does it work?

I’ve seen black lights advertised to show up hidden pet urine, but I tried it and it didn’t work–maybe because it was on wooden floors and brick instead of carpet.

Thanks for the info.

You are correct: it is black light (ultraviolet light).

how to teach english language to chinese children.Where do i start in teaching them?

Which topic should i start in teaching english language to little chinese children? Can you tell me more of how will i handle a chinese kids class when they all go to tuntrrums? How will i get their attention in a particular topic?Basically, how will i start teaching chinese kids range from 4-6yrs. old?

By teaching them something fun or something that they want to learn. This is how it is done in Kindergarten.
Food, play, short poems (remember Seuss), Chinese things like chopsicks, noodles, mother, dad. Sing, color or draw but do not spend so much time that it will loose their attention. Take breaks for exercise.
See below for an interesting website.

What kind of military strategies were used during the civil war?

What kind of strategies were used in the Battle of Fort Sumter, the First and Second Battle of Manassas (Bull Run), and also the first and second battle of Hampton Roads. I am trying to make a timeline with the most effective battle strategies.

The American Civil War (1861–1865) was a civil war in the United States of America. Eleven Southern slave states declared their secession from the U.S. and formed the Confederate States of America (the Confederacy). Led by Jefferson Davis, they fought against the U.S. federal government (the Union), which was supported by all the free states and the five border slave states in the north.

In the presidential election of 1860, the Republican Party, led by Abraham Lincoln, had campaigned against the expansion of slavery beyond the states in which it already existed. The Republican victory in that election resulted in seven Southern states declaring their secession from the Union even before Lincoln took office on March 4, 1861. Both the outgoing and incoming U.S. administrations rejected secession, considering it rebellion.

Hostilities began on April 12, 1861, when Confederate forces attacked a U.S. military installation at Fort Sumter in South Carolina. Lincoln responded by calling for a volunteer army from each state, leading to declarations of secession by four more Southern slave states. Both sides raised armies as the Union assumed control of the border states early in the war and established a naval blockade. In September 1862, Lincoln’s Emancipation Proclamation made ending slavery in the South a war goal, and dissuaded the British from intervening. Confederate commander Robert E. Lee won battles in the east, but in 1863 his northward advance was turned back at Gettysburg and, in the west, the Union gained control of the Mississippi River at the Battle of Vicksburg, thereby splitting the Confederacy. Long-term Union advantages in men and material were realized in 1864 when Ulysses S. Grant fought battles of attrition against Lee, while Union general William Sherman captured Atlanta, Georgia, and marched to the sea. Confederate resistance collapsed after Lee surrendered to Grant at Appomattox Court House on April 9, 1865.

The American Civil War was the deadliest war in American history, causing 620,000 soldier deaths and an undetermined number of civilian casualties. Its legacy includes ending slavery in the United States, restoring the Union, and strengthening the role of the federal government. The social, political, economic and racial issues of the war decisively shaped the reconstruction era that lasted to 1877, and brought changes that helped make the country a united superpower.

I need help with professional development goals for teachers?

Anyone have any ideas? I have a meeting with a boss and need help with 2 goals for professional development.

Anything with parental communication is good: How to give better parent/teacher conferences, engaging parents in student activities, etc.

technology is also good: Maybe you want to do more online (webquests) or maybe develop a class website (esp. so parents can access homework) or even help keep grades accessible every day.
